I've got a post64(obviously) Winchester Model 70 in 225 winchester and when I bought it the sights had been taken off and lost somewhere along the line. I'd like to put sights back on this critter, but am having a little difficulty finding a set. I'm interested in anything that would fit in the predrilled holes already on the rifle, actually a set of fiber-optic sights would be nice if anyone makes a set. Any thoughts on the matter appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!

Tom

hivelocity,

Thanks for the reply and I know I've checked with them before, but it always seems like they're sold out or in this case it looks like they only have "some" of the parts required. I was kind of hoping for some alternative sources. Thanks for the advice though it reminded me to keep checking back! Any other thoughts?

Better still after looking at the gunpartscorp website does someone have a picture or diagram of what these critters are supposed to look like?

You know I should check the gun selling sites on the web and see if someone has a picture of a complete gun that I can tell from.

Please keep the ideas coming!

I have a 225 Win M70, also. Mine was made in 1964 and the sights have been removed. It's one of my favorite rigs and very accurate. But to the point... I have a 1964 Win brochure on the M70. The sights are very high off the barrel. They look like those made by Williams Gunsight. (http://www.williamsgunsight.com/) I would recommend contacting them to see if they have a model that would fit.

I think olarmy is correct. If I remember right the front ramp was the long Williams "Streamined-screw on" ramp and the rear was the Williams "Gude" open sight.

I also remember most real model 70 lovers probably didn't even look closely at the sights because the rest of the rifle was a disaster. thumbdown
Ill never forget the trough along the barrel which "Free-floated" it. Roll Eyes
