I'm replacing a destroyed stock on a friends .222 340 Savage and was wondering how any of you might have bedded one and how well it worked. With the barrel band and reciever screw, should I bed that first section of barrel for full contact between action and band? Or bed the reciever ring/lug area and let the band pull the barrel down into the forend. Wish it had a place to put a screw in the rear of the action.

Thanks for the help.

Have you just thought of glass bedding it,and since you don,t have the action screw use surgical tubing to wrap the action, until the bedding compound sets up?
