Ok, here's the deal.

Back in February I sent all the peices required to build a rifle to Lawndart. Along with two VZ-24's and an FN commercial action in trade for labor. It seems he had a rough summer health wise. On 9-29-07 his spouse emailed me to say that Lawndart had not been able to do anything on the project and was laid up. He didn't want to hold up the project any longer and would be shipping the parts back to me. Lawndart emailed me himself on 10-05-07 discussing the parts list to make sure everything was gathered up. No contact till 10-29-07 when his spouse again emailed me and said that he went down hill again.

I figured money was going to be tight with hospital bills so I sent some money to cover shipping. Lawndart emailed on 11-07-07 and said he received the money but he couldn't drive yet however he would have someone get the stuff shipped. Nothing since. Only get voice mail when I call and no response to PM's or E-mail.

NOW PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT I DO NOT THINK I AM GETTING TAKEN!!!! That is NOT the point of this thread. I am concerned about Lawndart more than a few parts. Anyway that is the fix I am in.

I believe the doctor has been ill with West Nile Virus. He bought some tooling from me last summer or spring. He and I have conversed by e-mail a time or two since. I hope he is recovering.

I got an email from Lois (JC's wife) today. He's back in the hospital and the clinic will be closed for the next two weeks. Also, their home email is on the fritz. She emailed me from a neighbor. Lois needs to chain him to the bed so he can fully recover before he returns to work. I think both of them know he went back to his patients before he should have the last time. Take the time to really get well John. We all miss you.

I live in Caldwell and am quite close to Homedale. If someone would like to email me or PM me his PH# or address I will do all I can to get with him and see how he is doing. I have only been here in ID for a couple of years and am always on the look out for fellow shooters to shoot with or just to hang out to chat. You can check with D Humbarger if you like. I have known him for several years and flew online with him a lot. Anyway, cheers and shoot straight. MONTYCALHOUN, come home safe and soon. From this Vet, I thank you for your sacrifice and service.

I think when you have the gift like John does, simply returning a phone call could be an all day event.

Thank you guys for all the wonderful words.

I have been priviledged to spend time in the ICU for a massive Pulmonary Embolism. That was weird; I'm a non smoker/non drinker. I was obviously being punished for those character flaws.

Four days after hospital release I was back seeing patients when I got double pneumonia (courtesy of the hospital visit, no doubt). That was 14 days of injecting Ceftriaxone at home, plus azithromycin.

After that I went back to work for a week before crashing. Lois says coma; I maintain it was an extended non-dirt nap, and the catheter was because I like them. Who doesn't like cardiac and repiratory monitors. Right before I got the boot I was using bio-feedback to make the heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen saturation of my blood go up and down like a sine wave. You can make the alarms fire off every few minutes, and really piss off the night nurse; if you wish.

I saw the entrance to the tunnel leading to the next place that we all go to. Most of the white light was blocked by El Caballero asking me to get his rifle parts back to him. It was wrong of me to take on a project of this scope last summer, when my health was already somewhat precarious. Please accept my apologies Wes.

Unfortunately I cannot walk for more than 200 feet at a time, and driving is basically out of the question. I may get an electric wheel chair/cart next week. That will help with getting to the Post Office. Lois will e-mail you a tracking number tomorrow.

Lois told me a very nice guy named Grizz stopped by the clinic to check on me; I can't tell you what a comfort it was to hear that.

Here are some pictures of me recovering in our single wide home; the USS Diarrhea:

Chicken Soup, what can I say:

Steroids really puff the face out; those are 6.5x68 test cartridges for Aleko:

Here come the night nurses; check out their figures:

Always willing to check the safety of my food:

It's all about team work:

These are some dummy cartridges for Tip Burns to check feeding on for the community built rifle for MADDOG. The loaded cartridges will feature 350 grain Swift A-Frame bullets; the perfect combination for North American hunting with a .416 Taylor. Here is a two word tip regarding loading the .416 Taylor ; Redding Dies:

I believe I have taken care of/am taking care of any promised transactions, articles and dating advice (don't). If not, please e-mail me and I will get on it.

Life is sweet, and well worth hanging onto.

I am not up to any gun work these days, but I have able to develop some kick ass loads for the esorteric (to us, anyway) European cartridges, long range accuracy cartridges, Tropical loads (safe at 130 degress F) from .375 H&H to .470 NE, and High Power competition ammunition (.223/5.56x45 Nato, .308 Win/7.61x51 Nato, 30/40 Krag, .303 British and 30-06) that duplictes National Match loadings from the present as well as times of yore:

.300 Win Mag brass, late of the USAMU; $139.00/500 virgin cases:

Our metal fabrication guy is installing the 5/8" steel bars next week, the landlord agreed to a covenant allowing FFL work in the clinic (he, he, he); soon the licenses will be granted.

We will have an interesting service; send us a minimum of 100 once fired same brand commercial cases that have all gone through "old meat in the pot". Also two unfired same type cartridges. We will lend you a Stoney Point (now Hornady) device to measure the distance to your rifle's lands. We'll ask you to send the length of your rifles magazine as well. For a fair price you will get back five boxes of ammo loaded with your specified bullet that will fit your rifle like Cindy Crawford would fit your crank.

Knowing that you make croak shortly isn't the worst thing in the world. My only regrets at the time was having passed up several chances to hunt, fish, fly and date some pretty girls.

I am serious about taking it easy; my clinic schedule has been drastically cut back; when I'm tired, or I hurt, I go lay down for a bit.

All the churlish and agitated patients who were pissed that I didn't come in to see them just because I was unconscious and in "severe respiratory failure" due to "a massive pulmonary embolus" are gone to other practices (God is merciful). That leaves 2,000 very decent patients. I already feel the lowered pressure, and the decreased number of Sunday evening phone calls for three week long conditions...

Take care my friends. Please bear with me as I slowly re-integrate myself into the AR "scene".

LD

PS I believe we need more girls on the board:

That is Larry the Postal guy on my left. He took a swipe at Lois once. He won't do that again. The embroidery on my scrub top says "Dr. Doom"
