What is the best environment for drying/curing coats of rifle stock oil? Here are the options I have: 1. Garage - Central Texas (hot, high humidity); what I have been using at the moment 2. Interior - Low use space; 82 degrees; lower humidity; AC 3. Interior - High use space; 72-78 degrees; lower humidity than above; AC 4. Basement - 75-78 degrees this time of year (cooler in the winter); very low humidity; no AC. (it's a 8x10 room under the foundation; originally designed to be a wine cellar, now all of my sporting equipment and gun safe (yeah, that safe is never coming back up the stairs!) Warm and dry is ideal. #2 or #4 may be your best bet. As long as it is over 70 F w/low humidity you are ok. Always make sure the stock is warmer when you apply the oil than where it will cure, otherwise oil can be forced out while it cures and form little puddles or specks. | |||
