I have a hvy barrel 22-250 with the composition stock and the alum bedding block. From looking at the contact points on the action and the bedding block, it does not appear that the action is sitting evenly in the block. Would a little epoxy around the bolt holes and the recoil lug slot of the bedding block help things? (glass bedding so to speak) This is a remington rifle.

beemanbeme/ I have been hearing about some of the Remington stocks and other similar alum bedding blocks not mateing with the action solidly and they are being glass bedded with much improvement in grouping and disassembly/reassembly with less group movement.....my vssf mates well and shoots so good I'm scared to to touch it....I would try a layer at the contact points....rough up the alum or drill 1/8 in. holes 1/4 in. deep or so to give the glass good grip on the block...if you can't see where it is making good contact try some machinest blue or similar and let the good contact areas position the barrel and action in the glass on the part that isn't contacting......good luck and good shooting!!

On all HS stocks,I use a rotary sanding disc(80 grit)to remove all lube from the aluminum block. You needn't remove a bunch of material.

Then skim bed it. Accuracy has improved in every example,as has consistency.

Easy process,that makes a large difference........
