I do not have any experience in bedding a Ruger so I hired this job out. It is a Ruger LH ss Mark II that now carries a Lilja barrel in 338 WM and is pillar bedded in a McMillan stock. After getting the stock back I had to remove some bedding and do some cleanup work on the floorplate to get it to close and release easily. That issue is hopefully resolved. But when I put the barreled action into the stock I noticed the tang was bedded in tight with zero clearance behind it. Should I remove some material to allow some clearance? My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

The stock isn't going to be affected by environmental conditions, and I doubt the action will expand and contract enough to cause any problems, so I wouldn't worry about it.
