Anyone know what happened to the Kimber double lever QR rings & bases, did some buy them out? I bought a set back in the ‘80s; have them my 375 H&H MK X and would like another set to swap scopes between 1.5x5 and 3x9 Wondering if Talley or Warne rings would fit on the Kimber base? Talley and Kimber use a different size dovetail base. Talley 1/2" Kimber/Warne 7/16"

They show up on ebay from time to time. The QR version will run about $125 if it is in good shape. NRA Life Member GOA Life Member Distinguished Rifleman President's Hundred

I also have a set but I think they are Wisner's. I do believe they are the same. Jim Kobe 10841 Oxborough Ave So Bloomington MN 55437 952.884.6031 Professional member American Custom Gunmakers Guild

Wisner's are wider. I'd be interrested in them though. -Don

I have both Kimbers and Warnes. I think that the old Kimbers were a lot nicer and more finely finished than the new Warnes.

I made several width of dovetailed scope rings over the years. I still currently have some one inch, standard hieght, single top screw, in the white rings ( copy of) the Kimber Brownell Double lever rings. My Part # 2111 PM me if you are interested. Jim Wisner Custom Metalsmith

The early Kimbers are my favorite QD rings. The later Warne Premiers, also now discontinued, use the same size dovetail but have an added recoil lug on the bottom of the ring that fits into a large unsightly notch cut into the base. I usually grind this lug off so the later Warne rings will fit the earlier more pleasingly-shaped Kimber bases. Talleys use a larger dovetail and won't interchange. There are many versions of these rings, in several heights and shapes, made of all-steel as well as a very few made of alloy. These rings will also fit a standard 22RF tipoff dovetail, and so for single shot rifles I usually make a simple quarter-rib of a suitable size and shape. As already mentioned above, the earlier Kimber rings are by far the most pleasingly-shaped. Their smoother finish and rounded edges are more pleasing to not only the eye but also the hands when handling the rifle. The later Warne Premiers have unsightly and uncomfortably sharp edges and protruding levers which, albeit just as strong and convenient as the earlier Kimbers, are definitely less desirable from both the aesthetic as well as the ergonomic standpoint. The early Kimbers came in 2 different bottom configurations, one was made curved to fit the Kimber rounded receiver tops with built-in integral dovetail bases and the other was made flat to fit their flat-top screw-on bases. Both will fit the flat-tops just fine but the flat-bottom rings won't fit the round-top actions with integral dovetails. Somewhat confusing sometimes.
