I'm putting together components for my new rifle. The barrel has been ordered and now I need to order my action.I want a CZ 550 Magnum .375 action. So far $618 is the cheapest price I could find at Brownells. Is this a fair price or could I get a better deal elsewhere?

Look around sites like www.gunsamerica.com and www.auctionarms.com I have seen CZ 550 375's for as low as $500 on GA. You could turn around and sell the stock and barrel and get a little of your money back even.

Capstick, Dude... i gotta tell ya, bubi.. don't frickin WASTE your money ... buy the CZ, in 375 HH, swap the stock, and you are DONE... for about the same price as your barrel. you "save" 60 to 130 bucks buying the action.. and then spend 200 for sights, and another 100 for bluing.. and 250 for the barrel and the gunsmithing... So, if you bought the 550 in 375, you spend 679 new stock 350 model 70 safety 200... less than 1250 buy the cz action only 550 barrel/headspace 250 sights 200 new stock 350 safety 200 bluing 100 1650.. and you don't get JACK beeter.. as the cz's all shoot well jeffe

Capstick.. sorry about that... I'll still suggest you get the the whole thing.. then you have a stock to play with... a front sight (it can be opened) and if you have an intregal rear/recoil lug, you can use the cz insert rear... this would at least save you a beater stock and a front site... and, heh, if i was doing a 475, i would do a 470 mbogo or 475 a&m... the case is larger, and the brass (475 a&m) is cheaper... i KNOW i KNOW... and if I had any sense, I would have built a 510 wells, NOT a 500 jeffe jeffe
