Its been a while since these rings and bases were shown here on AR. Has anybody here used them? If so what was the quality like? Were they delivered on time? I have a project that I am thinking about trying a set on. Any input would be appreciated.

i have a set on a mauser chambered in 35 whelen and i realy like them.
i think it took about a week & a half from the time i ordered to till they showed up.
i think the rings would look better with a singe screw in the top to help round off the side veiw but other than that i got no complaints.
i'm going to order another set pretty soon for another one of my mausers

I bought a set for a 35 Whelen project that I a m currently building. Mine had a little problem with one of the holes but Matt (I think that was his name, I am going off memory)took care of it quickly. I was really happy with the customer service and the quality. I would buy another set.

I agree that the lines would be better with one top screw.

I bought a set for a M70 .300 WSM. Took about 3 months to receive them, although initially Matt kept in contact with me on them.
When I finally received them and mounted them, the screws in the lower half of the rings would not engage the threads in the other half of the split rings. It wasn't threaded out far enough to the inside of the ring. Talked to Matt, he said to send them back and he would fix them.
Well, I sent them Return Receipt Requested, in August. He signed for them, but it is now Nov 7 and I've left over 50 emails and messages, not a single response from him yet. Looks like I've gotten screwed.
If I ever receive my rings back, I'll be surprised. Probably just out the hundred bucks.
I personally won't buy anything from Matt again, too risky for my taste. Good luck with your purchase.

Thanks for the heads up. I had called and left a message with them yesterday stating what I wanted and if they were in stock. We will see if they return my call, I can always use Talley's.

I wanted a set for a Win M70. He said he had them in stock but he didn't have the information necessary to ship to Australia & that he would look into it that week & let me know whether he can or not. That was April 19th & i'm still waiting despite me sending a few reminders 5 or 6 months ago. I guess i'm just lucky to have kept my money in my pocket.

I bought a set of rings for one rifle and bases for another. The rings were fine while the bases, for a post-64 CRF 416 Rem M70, had a hole in the rear base that was not centered. It ran off into the hole in the underside of the base that I assume was used to index the base for machining. After repeated emails and a phone call Matt replied that he was not looking at his website or doing any more work. He had taken on a job with another machine shop. He said he would take care of my issue but never did. I gave up. This all in the past couple of months. Meanwhile his site is still up and his Father's still refers you to Matt's site for his wonderful rings and bases. Clearly a loser and rather consistently at that.

I picked up 3 sets of rings and bases and was extremely pleased with all of them. I wanted to order some more but have been unable to get a reply from Matte. He posts regularly on Facebook but has never responded to any of the messages I have sent him there. I do know he had to pretty much close down his shop and go to work for another machine shop. Hopefully he will get back to where he is producing them again.

Glad you are happy with the rings and bases. Mine looked good, just didn't work.
Hopefully if he gets his business back together, he'll start by making things right with the product he has out there already, before producing new product.
In my opinion, if he can't or won't take care of prior commitments/ responsibilities, he is exactly where he needs to be right now- working for someone who can/ will.

I got three sets of bases and rings, one each Rem, Mauser and Winchester. Loved the bases; hated the rings. On my sets of rings, the halves seem to have been drilled and tapped while butted up to each other and as a result, the threads are timed. With the existing gap during installation, the screws just don't want to start and easily cross thread. The screws are soft, too.

While the Winchester bases were well made, I was sent magnum instead of standard and I returned the rear base for replacement. Didn't hear from Matt for several weeks. I called him and he said he'd get the replacement out (he couldn't remember the first call or receiving the base). Never saw or heard from him again.

I think its a case of guy with a talent for making parts that just doesn't need to be running a business.

I had a set of bases here for a 98...rear base low, could not bore sight it...Having said that, I'm sympathetic with the variations he can run into.

If you go back to his post in the past you would know where this was going. Remember his custom action? That told me the whole story a couple years ago.
