I am looking for opinions on the Sako 75 synthetic stocks? Is there any reason to choose a McMillan, etc, instead?
Durability? Stiffness? Weight? Any difference beween the Finnlight and standard 75 synthetic?
Thank you for your replys!

McMillan is the only company [to my knowledge] that makes a drop in synthetic for the '75. I debated long and hard whether to spend the coin for a Mac on my new Sako 75 [small action in .20 VTT caliber] and am glad I did. The other option would be to purchase a Brown Precision, Lone Wolf or even an MPI and work it over with a dremel tool and then bed to fit. I think it would be a tremendous amount of work and require quite a bit of patience and skill because the '75, by the looks of it, does not appear to be an easy action to inlet for, especially with the recessed mag release on the front of the floorplate.

I am very happy with the Mac stock. They make several different models and they can CNC inlet with precision to your barrel contour. I have custom bedded/fit a bunch of small Sakos [A1s, Vixens, L46 Riihimakis, etc.] to synthetic stocks [Browns, Lone Wolf's MPI's, and High Tech's] and being able to just drop into the Mac and only pillar bed was a real joy. Wish I had experienced the thrill before all those other laborious projects!!

My .02 worth.

I have the Sako factory synthetic stocks on two 75's and wouldn't trade them for anything. I especially like the rubber inserts in the stock for occasions when it is cold or wet. I like the way they balance, feel and the palm swell is perfect for my hand size. The Finnlight uses the same basic design stock as the regular 75 but the stock color pattern is a bit different.

I haven't tried a Mac stock but have no need to too either.

The Sako 75 stock is plastic, not fiberglass.
However, it is probably one of the better plastic stocks on factory rifles. It is not exactly a McMillan though.
