Is this a feasible rechamber for a carbine barrel?

I believe that the .405 operates a a higher pressure level than a Contender can safely handle with respect to the case diameter. Maybe a .414 SM ?

I have seen a SSK .405 Winchester Contender barrel. I was just wondering if there was another way to get there wihout spending $400.

Loadtech shows they both operate around 36000.

My bad.....the Jones man himself wrote me back that they had cut them since 1978 for a Contender.
Maybe contact David White about a rechamber.....or maybe Mike at OTT.

My .41 Mag Contender barrel has a .410 groove diameter which is a little tight and might aggrivate pressures which are already plenty for a Contender at this head size. (45,000 psi)

Worse yet though is the 1 in 18 3/4" twist which may give you trouble. .405 standard is 1 in 14".

You might check with Gary Reeder in Flagstaf AZ.
I have a 378 GNR Contender which is the 405 necked down to 375. No problems in 6 years. He's got a reamer and knows the pistol and can probably tell you why or why not to try it.
