Looking at Brockman's and Talley... I've searched high and low and can't find an actual picture of the Talley Peep Base. The Brockman is interesting but I'm not sure I like the way the scope body is used to press the aperature down into the base...
Brad, I looked in Brownells and did not see the Talley peep in there. I did find a good looking sight and the price is not that bad at $65 retail. It says the Ruger model fits talley bases. Here is a picture and I will post a link to the item in their catalog below it.
YOU SHOULD LOOK INTO A BEEMAN APERTURE SIGHT IF YOU HAVE A GROOVED FOR SCOPE RECIEVER. I HAVE ONE ON MY BEEMAN AIR GUN. IT HAS ADJUSTER KNOBS ON IT. THEY ARE LESS THAN THAT PRICE FROM BROWNELLS.
If you are looking for an aperture sight that remains with the bases and can be used with just removing the scope I have several suggestions. First, if you can, find an old Redfield base with the integral peep. If you cannot find one that fits your action, the peep from any of the bases can usually be fitted to current bases--some of the newer contoured bases cannot be used. Elevation adjustments are for the most part via front sight adjustment Another option is the Warne QD rings used with their base with integral peep sight. The old Redding peep sights have a small ghost ring assembly that can also be fitted to bases for use as an emergency sight. I have personally used all three options with different rifles. It only takes one scope failure in a remote location to make you a believer in having a quickly available back-up sight system.

Brad, John Ricks would be the man to ask. We were going to use a set on a Custom M70 in .375 H&H that he is building. Unfortunately they required the use of Talley High Rings even when using Leupold Vari-XIII 1.75-6x32E scopes. If you have a short action and you enough scope tube length to have a part of stationary tube above the peep they may work very well. However, when dealing with an Express Action Length they proved to be unworkable with anything other than high rings. In short a very good idea that just did'nt work for my application. He wound up installing a NECG Masterpiece Rear to the Matching Banded Front. FWIW.
Regards, Matt.

The Talley peep does not remain in place when the scope is mounted. Talley's peep attaches directly to their bases. The bases require alteration, as in the rear recoil abatement of the rear base is removed (this has not shown any concern, at least on my 375 H&H )The peep is windage adjustable, and a very well made, simple, strudy design, with a removable apature, for use as a ghost ring.
If this still interests you call and speak with Gary at Talley, He would likly send you one, with a no question return. Gary and Dave are hunters and great people to deal with.
I had a Redfield peep screwed to a Weaver base once. It works if you don't mind a folding sight. XS Sight Systems (formerly Ashley Outdoors) makes a standing peep/scope base for the Remington 700. I had one put on a CZ 550, but its bridge is much longer than the one on a M-70. It's ugly and you will have to use medium (or taller) rings, but it works perfectly. email Ashley and see what they can do for you. Hope this helps, Okie John.
Here's an idea my smith used on my 376. We started building a ghostring on a cut down Leupold QR ring. The sight would have to be carried and mounted when the scope was removed. Due to scope size the bases had to be put on backwards. Ended up cutting a dove tail in the rear base and inserting a simple ghost ring. Milled a "U" shaped groove through both bases for visibility. Scope wears medium height rings and peep is forward of ring mount because of reversed bases. Workarounds with different scopes shouldn't be a problem. Elevation is adjusted with front sight. Windage is drifted and set. Solid sight works well. Hope to have digital pics in next couple of weeks. jeff
Thanks for the responses gents... I really want an integral peep not something that needs to be carried and attatched... I like the idea of a folding peep attatched to the rear base with either screws or a dovetail milled into a base... the research continues. The Brockman is out as is the Talley. Too bad Warne no longer makes theirs. A friend has one and it's excellent.
Brad, I'm with you on this one. A nice ghost ring that mounts simultaneously on the rear scope base with the QR ringset. Adjustable. When the optic must come off, there's the backup rear sight, already sighted in to a front iron sight.

Brad- I'm in exactly the same boat. My recently completed custom has a NECG banded front sight but no rear sight as ye because I'm looking for an integral flip up peep. Do you remember the "Third Ultimate Enfield" thread? Tom Burgess made a flip up integral peep for a stunning DGR stocked by J. Fisher. If you don't remember the thread, it was here on Gunsmithing. That peep is exactly what I want. I've not yet to find one and its beyond my ability to fabricate. You'd think there would be a market for an peep like this. If you find something, post it please!
