I hate sending my guns out to be worked on, rechambered, etc. Are there any good gunsmiths up here in New England? I've tried searches to no avail.

Swift River Arms in Belchertown, Mass. Does rebarrleing, rechambering, restores Mausers, etc. -- you name it.

Not sure if he's still there but Apple Valley Gunworks in Greenfield area did some superb work on my Dad's original Ballard single-shot rifles.

Look on the benchrest forum at http://benchrest.com/wwwboard/,<-----ok I made two tries to get this site to work. Type benchrest forum into your browser search and it may take you there. Grrrrrr.

That's where all the ads are and info. you can ask on the board for opinions too.

I wanted a smith I can drive to and it's going to be Moe Difino in Brookfield, CT (MCS,inc.) as we are old target shooting buddies.
