Any recommendations for the latest technique folk - like factory stock makers - are using for texturing? I have a MPI stock that I had made in 2011 for a Mauser. I've since restocked the rifle in wood and am redoing the stock to fit another Mauser I have. I shortened it this weekend and adjusted the inletting. The original stock was black with an irregular texture in the paint - not a spider web - and it was just perfect, not over done at all. See picture below on original rifle. My plan is to remove the original paint down to the primer/fiberglass and redo with Duracoat in a tan/earth color - I want something that will be durable and light. However, I want to add a texture on the stock first. Any recommendations? And do you think Duracoat will give me the weight and durability I want? Also, has anyone tried this from Brownells? Brownells Spray Grit I also just found that Duracoat has a texture you can add to their finish - maybe that's the best way to go? Duracoat Softsand Texturizing Additive Thanks! Thanks - how much weight do you think the paint adds to the stock? "Evil is powerless if the good are unafraid" -- Ronald Reagan "Ignorance of The People gives strength to totalitarians." Since I sand the factory paint and texture off all the way down to the gell coat I would venture a guess as to very little to none ________________________________________________ Maker of The Frankenstud Sling Keeper Proudly made in the USA Acepting all forms of payment | |||
