I'm in need of having my barrel and action refinished. I had a process done when the rifle(.416 Taylor on a Ruger M77) was built, the process was called "Duo Pro". It is now wearing off the barrel (Douglas Premium). What treatments are available now, that will give me some protection from SE AK rain and salt spray. I realize that protection is very limited and you still have to keep your gun clean and oiled. Any recommendations?

I've read where people have given their rifles a good coat of Carnuba Wax to protect against the elements. I've never done it but sounds like a good idea to me. If I remember correctly it was Mother's Gold Carnuba Paste Wax.

Titanium Nitrate like you see on drill bits. it comes in gray, black and a few others. hopefully they will be able to do bores before long. ------------------

I'm fond of John Norrell's MolyResin. It's a thermally cured coating available in a variety of colors. More info (test specifications, etc.) available here: http://www.fireflysoft.com/fsoft/molyresin.asp . I'm not affiliated with the company in any way, just a satisfied customer. Good luck!
