WAX IN MY CHAMBER

How can I get wax out of my mauser chamber without buggerin' anything up. I had a question I asked a fellow reloader about O.A.L. and he told me to put a coat of wax on a bullet just barley seated in the case neck and slowly chamber it to see where the bore meets the bullet (of course there was no primer or charge) then he told me to seat the bullet about another 10,000 deeper. Well in the process I put too much wax on the case neck and bullet and now have some on the chamber.
What is it they say about hindsight?

You can either apply heat with a blow dryer, pour very hot water into the chamber, or use an oversized bore brush to dislodge the wax.

I mostly agree with George. Heat it, and scrub hard with a brush with hot soapy water.

The next time, make up a dummy round with no powder or primer, and smoke hard over a candle.

Btw, I only offer answers 'cause I have made all the mistakes first. Sometimes twice.

Acetone dissolves most waxes. Paraffin (candle wax) just melts away.

BE SURE ALL WAX IS REMOVED FROM THE BORE. You can wreck a rifle with wax.........but I bet you can't say it five times fast. [Smile]

next time get a comparator, much cleaner and more accurate. Stoney points is nice and cheap and you can use it with all cartridges with a simple modified case for a few bucks for each caliber.
