i'm interested in the 10 mm, and would like a good pistol to start with, then work it up to a practical shooting pistol, though not exclusively a racegun. is the delta elite any good? omega, megastar, etc. if there is something i can get that doesn't need work and won't cost me too much, i'm all ears as well. which is easiest to work on, and has available parts for it? thanks, nated

I've shot a delta elite since they first came out. They're good. But, the 10 is probably a little hot for the 1911 design. I've had mine tuned by Scott-McDougall, but still will have ejection problems when it's hot, many rounds. Probably should replace the main springs. Works great on pigs.

for a new box stock pistol 2 stand out, the Glock 20 and the EAA Witness/Silver Team, in the Glock you can't shoot lead bullets, and it's a little large for some people but will always go bang. the EAA is the most accurate out of the box. 1911 pattern pistols suck in 10mm, frames crack and unless your willing to spend gads of $$ accuracy stinks.
you can try to find a good used Smith & Wesson 1006 or 1086 but not many people will sale one if their lucky enough to have one.
pass on the 1026, 1076 & 1046.
