From memory, I'll tell you, BUT: this is a hazardous operation because it is easily possible to get a NASTY deep cut when starting to do it: try to figure a way of protecting your finger, because the hook-edge of the Krag extractor usually is razor-sharp: First, draw the bolt all the way to the rear, until the little cross-member on the extractor "clicks" into the tiny recesses made for it on top of the receiver. Second (this is the dangerous part), lift up the extractor until it can be rotated to clear the top of the receiver. Rotate to the right --this should be easy. Third, withdraw the bolt from the receiver. Here, memory fails and you will have to experiment: I cannot recall whether it is necessary to pull the trigger back in order to withdraw the bolt or not. Regardless, the lifting and rotation of the extractor is the key to bolt removal. Lifting the extractor is a stiff, hard job. Rotating it is easy. But, just remember: that extractor-hook is sharp and can make a deep gash in the careless and unprotected finger.... Advise how it goes.........

from NRA firearms assembly 2 to remove bolt open it pull it all the way to rear. Press up on end of extractor and at the same time turn bolt counterclockwise. Extractor will snap free of receiver and bolt can abe withdrawn. Good luck.

Do as P Dog sez, and I never notice it was a dangerous mission...The Krag is on slick rifle, accurate and the 220 gr. at 2000 FPS will kill anything on this contenent with aplomb... ------------------
