K4 hold up to sluggun recoil?
Any thoughts if a Weaver K4 would hold up to the recoil of a sluggun recoil?

If it's an older steel Weaver it should hold up very well.

Anyone who claims the 30-06 is ineffective has either not tried one, or is unwittingly commenting on their own marksmanship

Thanks, I didn't know if the recoil would ruin it.

I am often full of BS, but I think the recoil from a 12ga slug is overrated.

I just shot 1oz 2 3/4 slugs for the first time today and I don't think recoil was that bad. And my 870 has a plastic buttplate. Felt recoil was far less than a 375 and nowhere near a 416 or 458.

I really can't see the slow recoil of a shotgun being any problem for a scope.

I guess I should not talk too tough, I was not shooting 3 inch magnums.

Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

Back in the day I shot a zillion slug rounds from an old H&R with a K4 with no problems, I say go for it.
