Savage 99 rebarreling

I own a Savage 99 takedown rifle in 22 HP that I would like to rebarrel. This would involve cutting interupted threads and fitting to the action. Are there any gunsmiths who would either specialize in Savage 99's or are good with them? Any info will be appreciated.

I will talk to a friend of mine and ask if he'll take the project

WHY would you want to rebarrel, unless it's a bad barrel?

Yes, the chamber is so expanded that I have a tough time resizing the cases. I would like to be able to shoot the rifle while keeping the original barrel. Thanks for the interest.

Rebarreling a Savage 99 is an absolute nightmare. Using the existing barrel by setting back one thread is an even bigger nightmare. The front of the barrel extension is at a 1.5 to 2 degree angle allowing the bolt room to move upward when it locks up. You have to line up the sites, the forend attachment, the extractor, and the bolt guide, not to mention the problem of the miniscule torque shoulder that is easy to over tighten. Bottom line, SEND IT TO SAVAGE! It is a good gun, though, just real tough to barrel up.
