Does anyone make a buttplate with a storage compartment? Either a small door or maybe the pad can rotate or something? Thanks, Mark

The only one I know of is the one used on the Krag-Jorgensen and M16/AR-15 family of rifles. What did you want to put in it? Would a trap grip cap or buttstock cartridge trap work for you? George

Al/Roger Biesen makes a trap door buttplate.

George, hadn't thought about a cartridge trap! That is what I want. Who makes them other than NECG, does anyone know?

Brownells turned up empty, even though they carry some NECG parts. Midway does carry them though they are special order.

Do some searchs on google, I found at one point (and have bookmarked somewhere but probably at home cause I don't see here) a real neat setup for a recoil pad that had a way of hinging and letting you get to the cartridge trap underneath. you get the use of a cart. trap plus a recoil pad to soften it up a bit. Wish I could remember where I saw it. :-( Red

I have a Biesen trap buttplate on my custom M-70 in .270 Win. with a stock by James C. Tucker. As far as I'm concerned, and I've seen 'em all, Biesen's trap buttplate is the best to be had, the best anyone has ever offered. www.biesen.com AD

I just spoke with Roger Biesen who makes these, and by the way VERY NICE GUY. I called just to ask about it, he told me all about it, a couple of other stories, tips on fitting pads etc. The scoop on this is that it has to be custom done to the rifle, because of the fitting to the stock, drilling for cartridges etc. etc. He can pretty much use any pad you want, he usually goes with Packmayr's. He is actually doing one right now. Takes him a week and runs $500 dollars. The one he is doing now is actually not for cartridges underneath but for mercury reducers the owner wants to be able to put in and take out I guess. I gotta say, it sure is a pretty thing, if I were in that Tax bracket I would probably send him a rifle to do it to. Damn lottery, so hard to win. Red PS In talking about pads we were talking about the kick-eze, which I really like although they can be a pain, he told me a story about a friend of his who was shooting shotguns, set it butt down after a shot and the pad froze to the ground, when he picked up the shotgun a chunk just got ripped right off the toe. :-)
