a few years ago I purchased a new Mark x action for .375 caliber. then I sold the bottom metal to a guy that needed it for a hunt coming up soon. then I had a new .300 Win Mag barrel installed on it. but it didn't get lettered. now I want to sell it but I think it has to have the caliber markings on it.
How can I do a decent job putting the caliber markings on it?
I'm not sure that there is a requirement to stamp it but if you must and are unsure of how it will look then do it underneath where it won't show. Someone can always stamp it above the woodline in their own style.

Only manufacturers have to mark calibers. Individuals do not need to. Forget about individual stamps unless you want it to look like a third grader did it. Of course, they should have caliber markings so the new owner knows what it is.

Learn something everyday. I thought it was a requirement no matter who did it. Interesting.

An individual can make all the guns they want to for personal use with no requirements to put any markings or numbers at all on them. Can't make a Class 3 though.
