I need to buy a couple rifles for retirement gifts and would like to have them engraved or etched or something...It would be just lettering, does anyone know where I could have this done? Thanks in advance.

Try Gary Reeder Custom Guns in Flagstaff, he may be able to help you.

I've been looking for an excuse to buy a laser, does anyone know what a job like that is worth? Pattern can be just about anything that can be scanned into a computer...

I have no idea what a job like that would cost because all I can find so far are trophy shops and their lasers are not powerfull enough. I did find one trophy shop that can hand engrave them using a stencil for around $50 each, which I think is quite reasonable.

I use a New Hermes engraver to mark calibers and put names on rifles. It is not dificult to do. Doesn't use stencils, font patterns are set up on the machine and traced. Pretty much any trophy shop with a New Hermes and a diamond scribe could do it.

I thought that most any trophy shop should be able to do it but they and jewlers are telling me that they don't have any way to hold the gun down. Does that sound likely?

If you get guns with floorplates then you could get the engraving on a much smaller piece.... and IF anyone should want to sell them later the floorplates could be replaced.

I use an "Etcho-matic" works really well and I can make any font I want. It uses electric current and will put a pretty deep etch in metal. Can also do the black marks on stainlees. I would be glad to help you out.
