458 Lott to ?????????
I have a Model 70 Classic in 458 Lott, it's a converted 458 Win Mag. The mag well is to short for the full length Lott cartridges. I have had it to a couple of gunsmiths, and no luck with a longer mag box.

I have since picked up a Ruger RSM in 458 Lott and it IS a shooter.

I was wondering what cool bigbore I could rechamber / rebarrel to in that Model 70 action that would feed reliably. And wouldn't be ridiculous to get brass for, I am a handloader so wildcats would be fine.

Any ideas????

416, 458, or 470ar. Do a search there is plenty of data and info. I know it would fit a 500ar but I have no idea what it would take to get to feed. Mine is being done on a ruger.

Did they take the spacer out of the back of the mag?

are the parts that can be used, if the stock mag can't be pulled apart and the rear spacer removed.

the 458 AR may or may not clean up the throat, it will do the chamber though.

McGowen currently has the 500 AR reamers and gauges.

Jeffe,

Yep, there is no spacer, and thanks for the links.

I'm kinda tired of fooling with this Lott since I got the other and it shoots well.

I was thinking something different, the Ar cartridges really sound neat, 458 or 470. And I would not be opposed to rebarreling. Who would I send the rifle to to handle this conversion? I assume some rail work would have to be done so it would feed correctl also.

Hey, if you want an AR, pacnor currently has the 416, 458 and 470, and the 500 is at mcgowen

Jimmy did his on a m70 7remmag.. pulled the barrel, swapped it out, nil feed work, away you go.

Should be able to sell the 458 lott barrel, to boot!

Wanna shoot my 470, 458, or 416? I'll have the second 500 in a couple weeks

Jeffe,

Thanks I would love to shoot them.

So what do you do just send your barreled action off to Pacnor?

What about dies?

Dies for the 40's can be ordered from hornady (aint that cool?) and the 500 from me, as i have another order in the works

McGowen can do all the work, and pacnor can do some, you have to check with them to get it sorted out, as i don't know if pacnor is still doing full gunsmithing
