I bought this S&W 1917 revolver about a year ago because it had an excellent barrel. The revolver functions mostly fine in single action, but is not at all reliable in double action.

Unfortunately its internals are very worn and well past my abilities to remedy, particularly the cylinder stop.

I am looking for a good S&W revolver gunsmith. Recommendations greatly appreciated.

Would this be an instance where sending it back to S&W would be best? Sounds like you may need a number of parts perhaps.

Smith&Wesson no longer works on older revolvers. I think the cut off date is 1970's production. Might give them a call to check. Also visit Smith-wessonforum.com.
