From the web page "Waffenfabrik Hein is currently researching and prototyping an accurate reproduction of the Model 98 Mauser."

Did anyone talk to Karl at the DSC show about this project? Is he taking orders for these actions yet?

We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't, Which purportedly covers at least ten million more people, without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that didn't read it but exempted themselves from it, and signed by a President, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, for which we'll be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke!!!!! I saw what he had done so far at the DSC two weeks ago. He's even putting the thumb cutout in the left side receiver wall. I don't think he's arrived at a price yet but,I doubt that it will ne any higher than his standard action. Greg said that he has invested in some CNC equipment and I assume that means he's trying toi keep costs down and/or production up.

Are there any pics available?

I would love to see the progress they have made.

ROSCOE,

WFH had a prototype "Krutz"? size action at the DSC show that was not yet finished but looked very good given the stage of production.

There are a few of us (AR members) that have M-98s(actions and or rifles) on order with WFH, I have two on order, a 404 Jeffery and 375 H&H pair, that I hope to have delivery on this year. At this time, I am planning on having my actions designed and produced along the line of a commercial M-98, however, my understanding is they will consider adding other design features based on customer request.

If the first two end up as nice as I expect, I have two more nice Turkish blanks to do something with Wink....

I imagine Karl and/or Greg will see this thread and reply directly to your questions...or you could go ahead and contact them...

Best,

jjs

Jim: I wasn't aware Karl had the 98 actions ready to go. How long did he say the turn around time was? For mine it was around 16 months. jorge

Jorge,

Karl and Greg had been starting the process of development on the M-98s when I started talking with them back in Feb/March of last year. Based on those discussions and their commitments to the design, quality, specs, etc. I ordered the first two M-98s from them back around that same time period, Feb./March 2006.

Greg has been working on finalizing the prototype as well as starting my first two. We are hopeful to have the actions barreled by early summer and to have the 404 Jeffery done by August/September, the 375 shortly thereafter.

They are making a significant commitment to the M-98s and I expect they will be first rate...

Jim: I have no doubt they will be first rate! in fact, that will probably be my next project in a 375 H&H. Karl told me mine would be ready about Dallas time next year. Good luck! jorge
