What is it's function? I noticed today that it was missing from my bolt after I returned from the range. The rifle worked ok. Fortunately, I found a replacement at Gun Parts. Any info would be appreciated. jorge

On the Pre 64 model 70's the Firing pin stop screw # 7570 did two things.

One, it acted as a wedge to stop the firing pin from going to the rear and out of the rear of the sleeve, if the mainspring retainer broke.

Two, it keeps the firing pin from falling out during field cleaning.

Thanks John. I really can't tell how long it was missing. Hopefully a replacement is on the way and will get here soon. jorge
