Krieghof has a very new rifle system, something like a pump gun.
Here is a trailer about the new Krieghof. What do you think about?

I am interessted in this rifle, what do you think is the advantage to a "normal" pump, if there is one.

The biggest advantage of a pump is that it forces you to re-acquire your sight picture for each shot.

If that rifle fits you well, there is no reason not to get one. It works "backward" from most pump designs, but that is not a worry. You will adapt very quickly.

Pump rifles continue to be very popular in our Northern and Eastern woods as they are quick and the shots are usually not long. As Lawndart mentioned, this one operates on a forward stroke rather than a rearward stroke, but with practice I'm sure it would be just as fast.

In addition to the characteristics mentioned, the pumps made by Remington tend to be a lot more accurate and reliable than the semiautos they make which are pretty much the same, except for using gas and a recoil spring to operate the mechanism. This contrast has always been a mystery to me, but Remington has yet to resolve whatever the problem is...

Ok, I'll be the bad guy. It looks like an over engineeered hunk of German junk. A trinket of a rifle. The answer to a question that was never asked. Don't get me wrong, its a rifle and I would shoot it but never would I spend my own money on it.
I have never hunted with a pump rifle so I'm not sure how I would like pushing forward to "pump" a gun. But if you have ever been on a good Wood Duck roost when the shoot'in gets fast and furious, pump gun in hand, you would realize how beneficial pulling back on the forearm is. (Every thing is allready going in the direction of the recoil any way.) You end up twisting and turning into positions that I'm quit sure you would not comfortable "pumping" forward in.

This is realy all well and good because it's a Krieghof and I could'nt aford it any way. Big Grin

The firearms of the world are essentially a matured product.....meaning it's not likely that a successful new Idea will take over.....

I appreciate the efforts of those that try to design something better but every time they do it's not accepted very well.....seem the Mauser boys knew what they were doing quite well.
