I'm working on an Ithaca 51---a gun I've never handled before. It's a 12ga Magnum in pretty nice shape and now that I've welded the slide and replaced the buffers (thanks to Bill Meyer) the gun cycles just fine with 3"shells.

My question: Should this gun cycle 2 3/4" shells? This one doesn't and I don't think it was designed to, but thought I'd ask someone who may have had one.

Thanks,

John Farner

john,

the few i have worked on would cycle with heavy 2 3/4 inch loads but not with standard field or target loads.

the safety lever went out in yesterdays mail.
