Can anybody give me an idea of what an original Win. 1885 LoWall Action is worth these days? This one is in perfect shape. The action is tight and no wear. The firing pin is bushed and the action seems to be ready to polish up and fit a barrel to it. It has the flat spring. Also will this action handle the pressures of a 17 K Hornet or a 17 Mashburn Bee? Godsdog.

A good lowwall action, with plane jane single trigger, no wood or barrel and in need of polishing and case color or bluing is going to run about $400 give or take a bit.

I have no clue if it can handle any of those cartridges. I don't know anything about them. Off the top of my head, I would be cautious. A .32-40 is bigger than most are willing to go with the low-wall (and there are issues like barrel shank size involved here - there are two sizes of low wall shanks).

The topic elicits a lot of argument, and I just don't have enough facts.

I would say that a good low wall action goes for about 400.00 to 500.00 dollars. As for chambering them to 22 K Hornet or 218 Mashburn Bee I don't have a problem chambering them in either of those cartridges. Regardless of which barrel shank size they are using. I might consider having a Neider style firing pin installed.
