This question probably has been asked before....
The Mini Mausers by Charles Daly for the .223 bolt face and action length.....push feed or controlled round feed?

A friend mentioned he heard they weren't controlled round feed. Just curious.

Controlled-round feed. They are scaled-down Mauser 98-type rifles.

I have never seen one, but how easy is it to have "CRF" with a Sako-style extractor? I sure hope to see one "up close and personal" at the NRA Annual Meeting this weekend.

The mini-mauser is a push feed built to look like a CRF. All the other Chas. Dalys are CRF.

Bastards! The mini-Mausers Zastava used to make and sold under the Whitworth marque were CRF, weren't they?

Nope, at least not the ones from Interarms that I had. They have a bolt shroud similar to a Sako that appears outwardly to be a long Mauser-style extractor, but they are actually push feed. (Thank goodness. Nothing is more aggravating when trying to single-load cartridges for bench or varmint shooting that the Mauser extractor.) I assume that nothing has changed about the action other than the importer.

What I heard is that the original mini-mausers were CRF and were having feeding problems. To solve the feeding problems they switched it to a push-feed type arrangement. No clue if this is gospel or just rumor talk.....

I have been eyeing the mini for a nice little .223 varmint package I'd like to put together. I would build a nice .22 Hornet off the mini action if they didn't have that darn removeable mag

Oh well.....this is many projects out. Might have to totally re-think it all when I am ready to do it.

I believe that a Hornet could be made to feed from the magazine box if you would make a slop insert like some of the 220 Swift boxes. I have made these boxes for the swift in 98 actions, so it should be similar. It would need to have more pitch on the ramp in order for the shell head to be in front of the last shell loaded. Here is a 6 lb mini 17 Rem that fed a lot of hawks and eagles fresh pdog.

Look at one before ordering. The new Chas Daly minis & Mk 10's are very poor quality. I wanted to make some up, but changed my mind when I saw them.

The Mini Mausers I have here both have extractors like the Howa or M-16. They are about 1.455 long and have a pin towards the middle and a spring under the rear providing the pressure to grip the shell. A little rough but where you gonna find a true, CFR in 223 case head for the price. I just ordered three more and one in the 7.62x39 size as I reall NEED [want, desire, crave] another 6MM PPC. My old standby Browning 78 is getting tired. As stated they need lapping and I don`t care for the magazine release they concocted but it only took an hour to make a better looking release. The trigger, with a little work, breaks at 2.3 lbs which is fine for my purpose. Bansner makes a great stock for these but only for the right-hand as there is a cheekpiece on theirs. I know you are all going to groan but MPI makes a lefty one for this action. I talked with Doc Rolund and he swears I`ll be satisfied with his stock. Might just have to see. There is always Richards Microfit for wood. All in all I am pretty pleased and would order more if needed.
