Is this a (relatively) straightforward conversion? Besides a barrel, are there any other changes necessary, such as a new mag box or follower? Candidates for this conversion are: LH Remington 700FS (ADL with Brown Precision stock) LH M-70 Classic (stainless with walnut stock) Thanks, George

Nope, In shape the 62 is basically an 06, 280, 270. So new barrel should be it.

I have a Brno-ZG-47 action that was a .30-06 and a Husqvarna FN Mod. 1950 that is a .270, both of which will become 9.3x62s in the near future, without any mods. Both of these rifles were factory chambered in the Bock cartridge and, having examined both, I can see no difference in the actions.

If you fill the mag completely you may find the the shoulder of the rounds bear more against the feed rails. This can result in the bases being slightly sloppy and not held firmly against the rails. If that is the case the bolt can ride over the base instead of picking up. The cure is to put one less round in - the base is then held firm against the feed rail and all is well. The 9.3x62 is slightly improved over a 30-06 so the diameter of the shoulder is slightly greater and slightly further forward.
