I have a couple questions.

Are barrel contour specs universal?

How would a #3 or fluted #4 contour compare to the standard barrel on a Rem 700 in terms of weight and diamater?

Check several of the barrel web sites for specific dims. for there contours. Most are very similar but there are slight differences from manuf. to manuf. A #3 is probably close to a stock BDL barrel (.620-.630 @ the muxxle).

As for weight, that also varies according to the size of bore you have. ie, a .375 bore in a #3 would weigh far less than a .243 barrel of the same contour. And, of course, a large bore in a thinner barrel will not be as stiff. Oh, and don't forget that in larger calibers, the added weight may be beneficial in off setting recoil..... guns are such a slippery-slope!!! [Big Grin]
