In reading the James Grant book on single shot rifles, he descibes the 1902 models as "Remington New Model Small-bore Military Rifle and Carbine". Produced primarily for the South and Central American armies there were approximately 1.6 million made. The model of 1902 had a 30 inch barrel and weighed- without bayonet, 9 1/2 lbs. Sold originally for $20. The caliber was 7mm for smokeless powder. Also available in 30 gov't, 30-40 Krag, 7mm Brazilian and Mauser and 303 British. Have fun, Frank | |||
