I just bought a two piece english blank, have pictures but not yet in hand. The forend piece looks like I may not like it. Love the blank though especially considering what I paid. What have you done to get a good color matching front piece? I'm thinking of sawing off a small thin slice and perhaps a dealer will try and match it, for a fee of course. Is this a common practice? Thanks.

kinda looks to me like the forend has a coat of finish on one side and raw on the other, which of course would change coloring. nice looking wood

I think I'd like a plainer fore end. I got this off ebay for $125.

Dressels is not far from you.

Call them, tell them what you need, then ship your stock to them to match. I'm sure they have lots of forend blanks.

Nice piece, GREAT deal I've had forend pieces cost more than what you paid for the blank.

Yes, it is fairly common for a dealer to match up forends for people.

If you are doing a color match, be sure to take all the finish off of both pieces so that you are compairing apples to apples. Two different finishes or even the same finish with different # of coats can effect what you see.

Depends on how plain you want. I may have a couple of spares. PM if you wish to discuss further.

I think I'd rather have something with some q-sawn type figure. No so much plain but just a more horizontal figured piece. Color match would be more important than figure. I'll wait till this comes in to make sure I don't want it. Dall, thanks. Once I get it I'll decide if I want to not use this one.
