Does anyone have any suggestions for a good firearms engraver that lives somewhere here in America? I've been engraving for 6 years and I'd really like to take a step farther in honing my skills. Thanks for any help. "Molotov Cocktails don't leave fingerprints" -Dr. Ski

Roger Kehr, aka Scrollcutter who is doing the work on the Silver Lining rifle. I do not think he gives lessons though.

If you look on the gunbuilding forum on the American Longrifles site, you will see a lot of engravers-some great, others just starting. I know some of them can tell you where to look for instruction. http://www.americanlongrifles.com/ "Bitte, trinks du nicht das Wasser. Dahin haben die Kuhen gesheissen."

I'd have to second Roger Kehr. He does great, tasteful work and is a hell of a nice guy to boot. Aut vincere aut mori

Thanks for the suggestions! I've always enjoyed the art and taste of classic engravings and figured hell, being a gunsmith and a part time tattoo artist, why couldn't I do the same? By the way, I found this link and it kind of made me laugh. I suppose that's supposed to be a buffalo... http://www.gunfancy.com/ballardrecutright.jpg "Molotov Cocktails don't leave fingerprints" -Dr. Ski

If I recall correctly, GRS Corporation offers many engraving courses by well known engravers during the year. GRS is of course the company that makes the Gravermeister equipment. Also, if I recall correctly, if you could swing it, there is a company in Italy, somewhere around Bressica, where you can go to learn engraving for free. Some of the worlds greatest engravers trained at that school. But I don't remember the name of it. http://www.grstools.com/
