I am free floating a Remington 700 mountian rifle in 7mm08. At this time it is only the free floating perhaps in the future there will be a bedding job. The stock is the factory wood. I recall something about different screw pressure and which screw to tighten the most. Can any of you can point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Just my opinion, but I have always felt that a free floated barrel should be accompanied with a full bedding job including pillars in order to give the strongest and the most consistent results. As for torque on the action screws, I would contact Remington to get their suggestion for a wooden stocked rifle. If you go too high you’re just going to start compressing the wood since there are no pillars to prevent it.
