Does anyone know anything about this smith? Am buying a pre 64 Win 70 25-06 custom by this smith from a fellow AR member. Did some searching and only came up with one possible reference which may or may not be the same person.

The rifle is coming from Eastern US and the only reference I have found for a smith named Atkinson indicates he might be from the Southwest.

There is a gunsmith by the name of Bill Atkinson in Prescott, Arizona. He would be on the short list of the best. He is the Atkinson of the famous Atkinson and Marquartt gunsmith and barrel fame. He is the A in the 475 A&M Magnum. He was Bill Ruger's right hand man for 20+ years. He is mostly retired now. He built me a left-hand 458 Lott on a Ruger 77 MKII (which if you check it out can't be done).

Don't know if this is the Atkinson you are referring about.

Interesting, as the subject name is on the barrel, but not sure who did the stock work, etc. Thanks for the info.
