I'd like to convert my .458 CZ 550 Win Mag to .458 Lott. What is involved in the conversion? Just having the chamber reamed? Who would be a good choice to have that done?

Thanks for any help,
Dave

Dave,
there's any number of smiths on this site that can do this for you and it's a GREAT idea

Does anything other than reaming the chamber need to be done?

By the way, when you get a rifle rechambered like this, is the gun stamped with the new caliber? Where would it be stamped?

Thanks,
Dave

Dave,

Not speaking from first hand experience, but I think you have to remove a magazine block, install a longer follower, and possibly "tune" the feeding rails.

As far as re-marking, that only depends on how much money you want to spend!

Since it is still a 458 win, ....

you could also ADD
458
win
LOTT

Don't forget to modify the barrel with a new recoil lug, crossbolt the stock and steel bed everything. A 458 Lott will otherwise quickly ruin your .458 stock. Depending on what reamer is used, you may still wind up with a chamber ring where the old .458 win mag chamber ended ( cosmetic generally) and the feeding will have to be worked on a bit mostly in the ramp area. All of this isn't hard, just find the right smith who has actually built DGR's before( successfully).-Rob
