A few months ago a few of us were lamenting the stock style changes that we had observed in GAG's "Goudy" and "G&H" patterns. They had become rather open in the grip area, and had a very high toe-line. I'm restocking a Springfield for a friend who wanted a grip like the traditional G&H. He also requested a more "modern" cheek piece, rather than an oval. I fashioned one similar to a Goens. It required tons of glass fill, but I now have a Springfield pattern stock I think I can live with. GV

What are you using for glass fill? Are you willing to "share" the pattern with other Springfield sporter lovers?

This product is called "Power Poxy" paste. I got it at Menards....although it's likely available at other home product centers or hardware stores. 8 oz resin and 8 oz hardener for around $10. Working time is 20 minutes, and about 5 minutes before it "kicks over", you can shape it with a tool dipped in water.....just like modeling clay. Sticks to wood much better than Bondo, and takes layered applications if needed. I like it.
Heh Heh.......I imagine that could be arranged. I'd have to discuss it with my friend......he fronted the money for the GAG stock. You'd also want to be mindful of the dimensions of this pattern. They're fairly specific, although I've left a little "wiggle room". That's also a trap butt plate of specific size. Actually, I intended to redo the cheek piece to one of Seymour's ovals after I had the blank duped from this pattern. GV

Grandview, That's neat! I like the new lines. I'm in the middle of the same thing, but mines a little more radical. I'm stuffing a 1909 M98 large ring dropbox into a BRNO 21H small ring stock. This is a first for me so I'm having a lot of fun with it. I'm using Bondo on mine. It's so cool, you get these crazy idea's and start smearing the Bondo on, sand it smooth, step back and look at it. "Nah, That won't work" and sand it all off and start again. Lots of fun. Terry -------------------------------------------- Well, other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

I have a stock pattern that almost duplicates yours but with the traditional egg cheek piece that I prefer...Mine are for Mausers and Mod. 70s however....Yours is super nice, I really like it... I would love to stock and old Springfield Custom rifle ala one of the greats like a Hoffman or Sedgley..Maybe I will, it would make a neat 9.3x62 project.
