375 H&H to a 300 H&H
I would like to rebarrel a 375 H&H Whitworth rifle to 300 H&H. Would I have any feeding problems or any other problem? Thanks for your help, Bryan

300 H-H
I am FAR from an expert but i think all you would have to do is rebarrel and check headspace.

You might need another follower. I did this with a Winchester M70. I tried a .375H&H follower first and it didn't feed like I wanted it to, then put one in made for a 7STW and it feed like a champ.

I bet you could just use a regular magnum follower (.300WinMag)and you'd be good to go.

300 H&H brass has all but dried up.....impossible to find.....and I've tried.

I haven't looked for loaded ammo but suspect that's still out there somewhere.....I say this as I'd consider the .300 Weatherby over the .300 H&H for this reason.

I had a .375 Sako Safari rebarreled to .300 H&H, no changes were needed.

Thanks to everyone for all the help. I will check on the brass for the 300 H&H before I have the barrel replaced. Bryan

Hey Vapodog, I talked to a guy at midway about this about a year ago. He said that brass like .300H&H, .257Roberts, 6.5X55 etc is only made during one run a year. After it's gone they usually are just out till the following year. Not a big deal, if you can't find any it probably sold better than they thought it would.

There are several non popular rounds in that category, the 375 H&H is another so is the 458 Win Mag. It makes sense if you think about it, set up to run the brass once and do a batch. What I do wish though is that I had a comprehensive list of the cartrides in this category, and what the teneative schedule was. It would save me running around chasing my tail at times.

I do know that during Christmas the only place that had 458 Win Mag was Huntingtons, and they wanted about double what it should have gone for.
