How do you find the correct mounting bracket for a Palmetto 5.56 A4 build with regular rail?

I picked up a A Leapers AIR 11850 med base and it is too low on the first AR using 1" 3-9 40 mm scope. Shoots well just to low to see well and quickly.

What do I need to do to get the scope at a better height so you do not have to hunker down to try to see thru the scope?. For the above
and for the second Build with a similar scope?

Thanks,

Jim

Will a high base do the trick or??

You need a riser. Taller rings will help.

I have a Magpul stock and have used risers to get them high enough to have adjustments on the stock.

Thanks for the help. Just got into AR's in January for hog hunting since my bolt actions do not kill fast enough.

Still new to gunsmithing AR's and yet to fig out all there is to do vs bolt actions.

I was measuring and need the mid riser so as to not have to hunker down.

Use an AR specific mount to simplify things

LaRue Tactical, right down the road from you, makes excellent AR mounts, all I use on mine.

Thanks. I ordered a riser from the same company in .5 and .83 so hopefully that will correct the problem.

I love the AR esp the ease with building them once you know a little.

Guess if it had been different but at my age I opted for no sights and did not read enough before ordering the mount.
Maybe their high mount would had worked?

I guess you always read stay as low to the rifle as possible to clear the barrel with the scope does not apply to AR stock vs the bolt actions that I have shot and gunsmithed on the last 45 years.

AP had both for 14 dollars each so one of he two should be the fix.

Now if I can learn to shoot them as well as I shoot my bolt actions all will be well with the world. Thanks, Jim
