You guys probably know all about this, but I didn't. I hope it is a hoax by some evil minded liberal. I tried to saave a copy of it to post a link to, but somehow my computer and I lost it...

Anyway, it appears BATFE has sent a letter to a dealer in Alaska demanding that he turn over his bound book of transactions to them so they can copy it in its entirety, including all the purchaser's and seller's names and addresses from it.

So far he has apparently refused, citing the law which prohibits that activity by BATFE.

BATFE has responded by demanding it yet again, claiming the book is THEIR property, not the dealer's. He has apparently refused to comply again and has retained counsel, anticipating a court appearance and trial of the matter.

If this is not a hoax, it will be most interesting to see how it plays out.

If it is a true report, it suggests a most evil intent by the current Administration.

Do any of you know anything about it one way or the other?

Will try again. Found the message, which I received this morning. If it will copy here, here it is:

"Alaska Dealer Resists F Troop Abuse: Breaking information sent to this reporter moments ago via email from a contact in Anchorage, Alaska indicates that a local gun store has refused to comply with an order from the ATF to turn over to the agency the official 'Bound Book' that firearms retailers are required to keep on site on customers and their purchases, photo I.D.s, and background checks. The store's refusal has provoked a confrontation with the ATF, which claims that the Bound Book is 'their property.' ...According to a memo from the Anchorage Second Amendment Task Force, the Great Northern Guns store in Anchorage was asked to give their Bound Book to the ATF so it could be copied in its totality. The store refused, citing their legal rights and the fact that to do so would be a violation of the Firearms Owners Protection Act of 1986. The Task Force began to make inquiries about the ATF's request and was told by a local agency official that the Bound Book is the property of the ATF and can be picked up anytime they choose. But the law appears to say something entirely different...

Thanks for the heads up, AC, first I've heard of it. Very disturbing, but another example of an out of control goverment agency solidly backed by the corrupt and incompetent US Attorney General, Eric Holder.

I hope the NRA is on this like white on rice.

The present administration has no use for laws or the Constitution . Has anyone given any thought to what happens if Obummer is reelected and becomes a lame duck ? Then the real damage will start ! Keep your tools of freedom handy , we may need to put them to work .

Don't forget to have your Liberals spayed or neutered !

Dear Mr. Bromley:

Yup, I've given that scenario a lot of thought.

Still the appropriate answer is vote the con man out of the White House on November 6th.

Sincerely,

Chris Bemis

I have, and the consequences of reelecting the Kenyan could (and I think will) be dire.

I believe that the book HAS to stay at the location on the FFL. The batf must COME & look at it. When you cease operations only then is it it to be sent to them.
