I have a K22 6" s/n 3K44*** 17-3 that shoots low even with the rear sight adjusted as high as it will go. Front sight appears as there is no way to get it off. Does anyone have or can make a taller rear sight blade. Other ideas or suggestions of who can/will do? I'm in SE Michigan. TNX Mike NRA Benefactor Member US Navy Veteran

There are various different height factory S&W blade kits available from Brownell's or Midway. You are better off buying the kits as you are supposed to break the Windage screw to remove them. Sometimes you can remove the staking but won't be able to stake the new blade in place anyhow. PA Bear Hunter, NRA Benefactor

What ammo are you shooting low with? You might try some standard velocity stuff.

The most common cause of handguns shooting low is the shooter. I would have a known good shot shoot it.

Yep. Settle on the most accurate ammo first. Then buy a bunch of it. If after you confirm it is still too low, set the rear sight halfway and file down the front sight in tiny increments until it zeros. Touch-up front sight with cold blue.

Best bet is to install a mini reflex sight. https://tkcustom.com/products/...mini-sts-scope-mount https://gundigest.com/gear-amm...-dots-a-buyers-guide

I was going to say what PDS said; I watched this often in Tank Companies that I had; when soldiers complained about their pistols not shooting well; it was never the pistol, ammo, sights, or target.

I get it thanks all. A red dot on a K22? Sure I won't get struck by lightning? I'll try filing down the front sight. If I F it up can someone fix? Mike NRA Benefactor Member US Navy Veteran

Try the pistol from a good solid rest, seated and with 2 hands. The target no more than 15yrds /50ft away. Take careful SA shots or have some others do the same. ..and place the rear elevation at it's mid-point to start off. See where the group falls. If you've already done this carfully and the gun groups low (lower than the sights can adjust for,,, The rear sight Leaf may be the wrong one for the caliber & BBl length of the pistol. Adj sight leafs vary in height for the different bbl lengths and the different calibers offered. There are 3 sizes. .126 .146 .160 height. These are matched by the factory along with bbl lenght , caliber, common bullet weight/vel. Another problem may be that the sight leaf may be the right one, but the bbl could be slightly bent. The front ring of the frame where the bbl screws into can be bent fairly easily and it doesn't take much to alter elevation/windage. Usually if bent, the front lock-up pin/bolt will be slightly out of position to properly catch the front of the ejector rod on the S&W. It should be something that you can see easily enough though when the cylinder is closed and Locked. The front locking bolt should drop into the tip of the ejector rod as the center pin moves to the rear to lock the cylinder at the breech.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ALTER THIS REVOLVER YOURSELF.

CORRECTED MM, No need to modify the front sight in my book. When you shoot raise the position of the top of the front sight in the rear sight higher than normal instead of in the groove.

Don't file the front sight. That is a non-reversible action. It is much harder to replace a K-22 front sight than a rear. Find the ammo you want to shoot and decide how higher you need to go and order a new rear sight kit for less than $20.00. Keep us posted. Interesting. Found 3 other folks where theirs shot low and left. The left can be tuned out by the rear sight I think. Life itself is a gift. Live it up if you can.
