Sako Medium and Large action ?
Are these actions the same barrel shank thread size?

I just tried screwing a barrel from an L61r into an L579 action and it didn't want to go.

SAKO L61R`s threath diameter is .046" bigger than L579`s.

Here's what I have, all are 16 V tpi - L-46 thread lenght .845, outside thread dia .855

l-579. tl is .870 - osd is 1.00

L-61. osd is 1.046.

L-57. 17 V tpi, osd. is .984

Info. is out of Bolt action Rifles by Frank de Haas

2Barrels
Very early L61s were 1.000" OD.

Not sure what years or serial number range constitutes very early. Suffice to say, I've never run across a 1.000" L61R.

Once again, thanks for the informative replies. The OSD of this barrel is 1.042" so apparently for a large action... so more than a little fitting will be required.
