Ive got an old Remington model 41P .22 that has the original finish and it has a large deep scratch on the left side of the stock. I did a search but cant seem to find anything on how to repair this. What is the best way to repair this? It doesn't have to look like new but just so you don't notice it so much. Thanks

If the wood is just "dented in" then clean the scratch and wet the scratch with clean water and use a thick weave cotton rag ...wet and a clothes iron or similar hot metal to make the steam from the wet rag over the scratch enter the wood and raise the dented part.....might take several-3-times 4hrs apart to raise it.....if wood is missing as in a cut then you can only sand the area and use a sanding block to blend the scratch away by sanding the whole area and refinishing the area or whole stock....sometimes you can find a used stock on some forum trade boards....splicing in a peice of wood usually shows but is fuctional.....hth...good luck and good shooting!
