Why would want to remove it? Just add a second coat.
Seriously though, With a little elbow grease plain alcholol - or gasoline - will remove it. If it's really tough mix a little acetone and MEK -wear gloves and make sure you clean it all off.

Regular paint striper wont hurt it. I bought a mauser rifle someone had sprayed clear on the whole thing. I took it apart and just used some Jasco paint striper, dabbed it on with a paint brush and the paint came right off. I hosed the striper off with a garden hose then blew it dry with my air compressor and kroil oiled it up.

I agree, gas-grill matte works great.

I don't think removing the paint will make it look any better.

I'd be lazy and just have it beadblasted, that's a ss finish I could live with, and it would be worth paying for it to save the labor and nasty fumes.

If you have to get the paint off I found that the Walmart Carberator Cleaner cuts paint quickly. I use it to clean my bore brushes but found out one day cleaning something off my garage floor that it will eat up paint real fast.

I just painter my blued rifle with 5 light coats of 1200degree BBQ grill paint and it looks great. I highly recommend it. Brownells also has a variety of sprays to chooose from alos but more expensive.

Good Luck
