How are you trying to conact PTG? Is it direct or through Shawnee/Reamer rentals? try them direct. I just spoke to Dave yesterday to have a reamer reground. I have never not been able to speak direct with Dave much less not get anyone. they are super helpful and the reamers are top notch. Certainly better than clymer.

Personally, I prefer Manson products. Unlike most companies you can call Manson Precision Reamers and actually talk to the guy that runs the company... Dave Manson. Dave worked for Clymer for many years and he is a really nice and very knowledgable gentleman who doesn't seem to mind talking with his customers and answering our stupid questions. I like that personal touch and I will stick with people and companies that provide it. Just my opinion. Rick

I tried to contact them throught their sight. No response after a 3 or 4 days. They have quite a lot of stuff there but no prices on anything. I do remember seeing the name Manson in the Shotshow guide. I will contact them, or try as well. While I have your attention here for a second let me ask you guys a question. This project I have going is for an XP-100. I had pretty much made up my mind what barrelI was going to use. Here was what kind of chapped me, maybe I am getting thin skinned in my old age. I wanted a contoured blank, but I wanted the stub left raw unturned, or what ever they started at. Well, long story short, out of the 3 or 4 that I had in my head, only one would give me the stub. I mean I paid for the darn thing and I kind of had plans for another barrel in the future if it was at least 12" long. The "party" I am going to use will let me get a longer than standard barrel so I will have plenty to work with on the future project. I know for the most part you fellows are rifle shooters and you may have never ran across this situation. I just feel that if I paid for a full blank of XX", and it is cut in to two pieces, the whole thing is still rightfully mine. Just kinda ticked me that I couldn't get my first choice. I will say that there probably isn't a nickels worth of difference in the two quality wise. Oh and BTW the 15" contoured barrel will cost me the same as if it was their standard rifle length barrel. This was the one area of this project I would have waited a year or more for the barrel if they would have accomidated me. Also cost was not a factor in this what so ever. Enough of my bitchin'. Thanks for the help, much appreciated. Jeff

Jeff, most barrel makers price their blanks per barrel. If you want two 15" barrels I'd buy one 30" blank. When you try to sell the extra 15" blank you'll see why makers are reluctant to sell a 15" blank for less than a 22....28" Wally Waggoner Rifles

Wally, that is exactly how I worded it to them. My complaint was not in the price for a 15" contoured barrel at all. I just wanted the "scrap" piece that would be left over. And as to selling the "scrap", I have another project in mind for that. Kill two birds with one stone so to speak. I am not mad at any of them either. I realise most pistol stuff is a PITA to them. If my smith would contour the blank, I would have just ordered what ever length I could have made work. Thanks again fellas. Jeff
