Came up with this peep sight in a box of assorted gun parts and have no idea what gun it came from. I'd guess military as it is built as solid as a tank. Anybody ever seen one?
Thanks

Never seen one on any military, or civ for that matter.

Looks more like some kind of adjustment from a machine based on the V notch/detent on the knob there in picture one. Threads seem a bit coarse for a peep sight. Seems to be a lightweight alloy as well if that means anything.

Good thought, never considered it as part of a machine. It is made of steel. Each click moves the aperture .050"

That is what it looks like to me as well, except it looks like it is made from steel.

That tab on the bottom looks like it was made to ride on a cam of some sort, and it looks like the bottom has been polished from wear showing this.

Also, I suspect it pivoted from the hole on the right side, a close up of the hole should show circular wear scratches/patterns if this is the case but can't really tell with my monitor here, but you should be able to see how it moved. I suspect the "peep hole" was screwed to whatever needed the micrometer movement, what that was I have no idea. Also, if you inspect the underside of that little tang you might see wear from a small spring or pivot that provided some upforce.

for every hour in front of the computer you should have 3 hours outside
