Gents:

This post is really for my dad, but I'll ask: he has been involved with woodworking as a hobby for a long time. He is interested to build gun cases. Can anyone recommend a place to go to find resources regarding features, measurments, etc? Or if anyone here has ideas that'll be appreciated as well!

Thanks,

Jeff

Jeff

I know it's not much but here's the first (and last) one I did.
Walnut case

I have an old guns magazine article about building a fitted case for a custom M1 Carbine I could forward to you. PM me your e.mail

"Rocklers", the online woodwork supply place has the typical suitcase type hardware. an "over-arm" or "pin router" is the cat's meow for making the fitted interior depressions. make up a pattern profiled to the gun's shape and temporarily attatch it to the filler stock to get the depressions.there are ethefoam blocks of varoius densities to use for filler stockfrom upholstry suppliers. the denser grades, which is what you want for a gun, cut just like wood with a router.
be prepared for sticker-shock when you go looking for the leather.
i've always wanted to ty one also!
